Sitting With Me, A Self Portrait Series
When I’m sitting with myself I’m…
Listening to the beautiful sounds of violin and piano compositions; Reading memoirs and regency fiction; Drinking wine (Albariño, Montepulciano, Pinot Noir, Cabernet); Rewatching Derry Girls (lately); Thinking about family living states away; Missing loved ones; Reminiscing about the past; Feeling a sense of gratitude for where I am; Anxiously monitoring current events; Observing my emotions; Thinking about TK and our lovely pup; Planning our first trip abroad; Reviewing my schedule for the week; Editing photos; Trying a new recipe in the kitchen; Writing letters to my friends; Acutely aware of my aging body; Pulling up my compression socks; Searching for my glasses; Journaling through my feelings; Avoiding cringing memories; Managing my budget; Tearing up for no and all reasons; Staring out the window; etc.
It’s not a simple act, sitting with yourself. But it is necessary to get to know one's self.
I like the me I am and the one I’m becoming.
‘Sitting With Me’ Photographic composite by Stephanie Snyder documented on Sony a7iii. This is the album I listened to while writing this entry.
