Autumn in New York

It was my first trip to New York City, which is a bit surprising… for those that know me personally. My partner, Troy, and I were in desperate need of an adventure—two plane tickets and an evening Lyft into Greenwich Village later—we were thrown into the hustle and bustle of the big city.

We walked 10 miles on average each day; enjoyed a wide range of New York staples (don’t worry, we had the bagels); fell in love with the magic of Central Park; caught a stand-up comedian at The Comedy Cellar; and wandered through the halls of MoMA.

It took all but a single visit to feel at home.

The New York AM hustle.

The Food

There is no shortage of dining options in NYC. Around every corner, we stumbled into a café, bar, bagel shop or restaurant. Not pictured: the best Chinese food we’ve ever had to date (I was too busy eating it to take a photo).

The Sights

We wandered through Central Park, Washington Square Park, and the city libraries. I remember this older gentleman playing music beneath a walking overpass in the middle of Central Park, just a hop away from the angelic water fountain. His music filled the space and echoed against the walls covered in historic paintings and antique ceiling designs. It was something out of a storybook…a hidden oasis from the hustle of the downtown, just blocks away.

The Night Life

It was late when we first arrived, but we ventured out into the night to find a warm meal and a glass of wine. Throughout the week, there was no shortage of evening wanderings. One night, after an incredible meal somewhere in the depths of Chinatown, we found ourselves stumbling into a Little Italy wineshop near the boundaries where the two neighborhoods met. The rest was history.

We bid farewell to this lucky find in Greenwich Village.

Until next time…
